AKOFENA

Terms of Service

Effective 16 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-16

Welcome to AKOFENA: Blades of the Ancestors ("AKOFENA" or "the game"), made by Relu Spatial ("we", "us", "our"), based in Ghana. These terms are an agreement between you and us about playing the game, including its website at akofena.reluspatial.com and its online features.

The short version

  • You must be 13 or older to play.
  • Play fair: no cheating, hacking, bots or abuse, and no offensive player names.
  • The game and its characters, art, music and code belong to us or our licensors. Don't copy, re-host or clone it. Sharing your clips, streams and victory cards is welcome.
  • Online matches connect you directly to the other player. When few players are online, Quick Match may pair you with a computer-controlled opponent.
  • The game is free and provided "as is". We may change it, and we may suspend accounts that break these terms.
  • AKOFENA celebrates our heritage. Its legends come from many peoples, and it is made to keep their stories alive through play, never to set one tribe or community against another.

7Our game, and what you may do with it

The game and everything in it, including its characters, story, art, 3D models, animations, music, sound, code, name and logos, belong to Relu Spatial or to the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the game for your own enjoyment. You may not:

Sharing is welcome: you may share screenshots, victory cards, clips, videos and live streams of yourself playing, including on channels that earn advertising revenue, as long as you don't suggest that we endorse you and you don't share the game's files themselves.

8Culture, history and the spirit of the game

AKOFENA's legends are inspired by real figures from Ghanaian and West African history and by traditional stories. They are creative interpretations for a fighting game, not exact historical portrayals.

Why we made it. AKOFENA exists to celebrate and preserve culture through games: to carry the names, stories, dress, music and places of our ancestors to a new generation, in a form they love to play. The legends come from many different peoples, and when they meet in the arena it is a friendly contest, like rival teams on a match day. It is not a statement about any tribe, ethnic group or community.

Nothing in AKOFENA is meant to promote hostility, division or violence between tribes or peoples, in Ghana or anywhere else. Where the real histories behind our legends include conflict, we tell them so that they are remembered and learned from, not to reopen old wounds or take sides.

We approach these histories and cultures with respect, and we ask you to do the same: celebrate every legend, and keep the rivalry in the game. If you feel something in AKOFENA misrepresents your history or your community, please tell us at [email protected]. We want to get it right.

9What you add to the game

You keep any rights you have in what you add to the game, such as your player name or the names you give local tournaments. You allow us to store and display them in the game for as long as needed to run it. Don't add anything you don't have the right to use, or that breaks these terms.

10Other services and credits

Signing in with Google or Discord, sharing through other apps, and videos in announcements are provided by other companies, under their own terms. Some sounds and models in the game are used under licence from their creators, who are credited in the game.

11Changes to the game

AKOFENA is free to play and is still growing. We may add, change or remove features, legends, modes or content, or stop offering the game or parts of it, at any time. If we ever introduce purchases, they will come with their own terms.

12Suspension and termination

We may warn, rename, suspend or ban an account, or remove results, if it breaks these terms or puts other players or the game at risk. Serious or repeated cheating or abuse can lead to a permanent ban. If you think we got it wrong, email us at [email protected] and we'll review it. You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account.

13Disclaimer

The game is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that your progress, stats or results will never be lost. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be limited.

14Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Relu Spatial will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, progress or goodwill, arising from your use of the game. Because the game is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to 100 Ghana cedis (GH₵100). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

15The law that applies, and disagreements

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. If you have a problem with the game, please email us first at [email protected] so we can try to sort it out. If we can't, the courts of Ghana will have jurisdiction, although, if you live elsewhere, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

16Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the game changes. The version and effective date at the top will change, and when the changes matter, the game will ask you to review and accept them before you keep playing. If you don't accept them, please stop playing.
